Compiled and directed by Stanford Repertory Theater Artistic Director Rush Rehm, Words (and Images) to End All Wars combines prose and poetic accounts of World War I with projections of visual responses to the conflict. Writers and artists whose work will be shown include Henri Barbusse, Wyndham Lewis, John Nash, Ezra Pound, Otto Dix, Siegfried Sassoon, Max Beckmann, Ernest Hemingway, George Grosz, Edward Thomas, Käthe Kollwitz, Noël Coward, Stanley Spencer, Erich Maria Remarque, Ernst Junger, Stratis Myrivilis, George Bellows, Robert Graves, John Singer Sargent, Wilfred Owen, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Vera Brittain, Ben Nicholson, Dalton Trumbo, Stefan Zweig, and others.

Words (and Images) to End All Wars offers compelling artistic responses to the “war to end all wars.” The performances mark part of Stanford’s ongoing commemoration of the centenary of World War I, 1914–1918.

Performance Schedule
Shows are 85 minutes with no intermission. Doors open 30 minutes before curtain. There will be a post-show discussion after each performance.
