Two Handa students table

Our students benefit from the guidance and academic advising of Handa Center staff and affiliates, including research fellows and visiting scholars, throughout the academic year. The Center also offers several summer fellowship opportunities for students, including placements working with our overseas programs in places like Cambodia.

Handa Center Student Community

If you are interested in simply being a part of our growing interdisciplinary student community, whether that be through attending lunch seminars on discrete human rights topics, volunteering at Handa Center events, taking HUMRTS courses, or participating in social gatherings throughout the year (free food!), please sign up here and express your interest in joining the Handa Humans list.

Summer Fellowships

The Handa Center is pleased to offer paid summer fellowship opportunities for students interested in human rights and international justice. In collaboration with partners on campus including Stanford Global Studies and Haas Center for Public Service, and the larger human rights community, the Handa Center ensures students have meaningful, applied research and work opportunities to inform their studies and future career pathways.

Student Advisory Board

The Handa Center Student Advisory Board (SAB) was established early on to help shape the Center's priorities and programming. The SAB members provide insight and feedback about student interests and needs related to human rights both on and off campus. Currently the SAB has three sub-committees to support Handa Center strategic planning: Communications and Human Rights Resources; Community Service; and Career Pathways in Human Rights. It has been and remains a top priority of the Center to build programs in a way that is responsive to the needs of our student community – we exist because of and for you!

Jobs List

The Handa Center sends out a monthly email listing of jobs in the human rights and international justice fields, from early career to high-level postings. This listing also includes other professional opportunities as well as internships.
