National School Walkout Demonstration
Across the United States today, students walked out in demonstrations, a month to the day after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland, Florida. Stanford Students gathered outside of Green Library to call for stricter gun control laws and to discuss the larger problem of gun violence in communities of color.
Members of the University Archives team were able to photograph the event and collect posters created by activists, which will be added to the Archives, digitized, and made available online. The Stanford University Archives recently launched an initiative to prioritize the acquisition, processing, and digitization of collection materials relating to Stanford women, communities of color, the queer community, and activists.
