ORCID for authors and researchers

ORCID logo

Is your research confused with others who have a similar name as yours? Do you have problems distinguishing between authors with similar names?

As an author or  researcher you need to be able to easily and uniquely attach your identity to your scholarly output including datasets, articles, books, citations, and experiments.  You want to be sure you are recognized for the great work you do! The best solution is to register for your personal ORCID id to claim your publications and connect your scholarly contributions.

ORCID is an open, non-profit, community-driven effort to create and maintain a registry of unique researcher identifiers. They provide a transparent method of linking these identifiers to research activities and outputs by embedding ORCID ids in key workflows such as manuscript submissions, grant applications, researcher profiles, and patent applications. ORCID reaches across disciplines, research sectors, and national boundaries. The country of Denmark recently adopted ORCID ids for researchers at most of its universities and national systems!

The Science and Engineering Libraries will be distributing ORCID information at GOALIE, the new graduate student event, on Friday, September 19 and encouraging all new students to register with ORCID to obtain their own unique ORCID id to manage their research activity.
