Partnerships

Partnerships with other universities are an important component of OMA's initiatives. OMA fosters collaboration with partner institutions for building capacity in the Geosciences. Partnerships can be developed to include faculty and student exchanges, teaching, and research.

The California Alliance

The California Alliance is a partnership between four leading California universities to ensure that underrepresented minority (URM) PhD graduate students and postdoctoral scholars from our alliance institutions aspire to and populate the ranks of the postdoctoral population, the faculty at competitive research and teaching institutions, the federally funded national laboratories, and scientific think tanks.

The California Alliance focuses on increasing diversity in Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering (MPCSE) and related disciplines.

InTeGrate (Interdisciplinary Teaching about Earth for a Sustainable Future)

InTeGrate is a 5-year, NSF-funded STEP Center grant, running from 2012 through 2016. The STEP (STEM Talent Expansion Program) Center program enables "a group of faculty representing a cross section of institutions of higher education to identify a national challenge or opportunity in undergraduate education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and to propose a comprehensive and coordinated set of activities that will be carried out to address that challenge or opportunity within a national context."

Trilateral Cooperation Stanford/KFUPM/Saudi Aramco

The Stanford/KFUPM/Saudi Aramco trilateral cooperation agreement establishes a relationship that will serve as a model of academic-industrial cooperation. It will encourage the exchange of professors, scholars, graduate students, researchers and publications between the institutions and explore collaboration in the area of continuing professional education and certification, and technical symposia.

Stanford Diversity Exchange (SDE)

Scholars from existing partners (Howard, Morehouse, and Spelman) may participate in the Stanford Diversity Exchange (SDE). SDE is part of the national Domestic Exchange Program, where students study at U.S. participating colleges or universities for up to one academic year.

Germany Partnership

The agreement between SE3 and Senckenberg aims at a long-term partnership and will facilitate joint efforts between the School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences and Senckenberg in climate change, Earth system dynamics and biodiversity research.

Chulalongkorn University

The unique international partnership between Stanford University and Chulalongkorn University (Chula) of Bangkok, Thailand is the first of its kind. The goal of this cohort is to build a capacity for teaching and research in Earth Sciences and petroleum engineering and to continue the successful exchanges of Stanford faculty to Chula and Chulalongkorn students coming to Stanford.
