Carolien Kraan

Bio

Carolien Kraan is a research professional at Woods Institute and the Stanford Environment Assessment Facility (SEAF). The focus of her research is integrative assessment of climate change impacts and adaptation. Applying expert judgment to integrate different lines of evidence, both quantitative and qualitative, the aim of assessment is clear communication of the resulting synthesis of knowledge.

Prior to joining Stanford, Carolien worked at the Energy research Center of the Netherlands (ECN), where she advised the Dutch government annually on important subsidy parameters in the SDE+ renewable energy support scheme, and conducted policy-relevant research for government, from national to local levels, in the Netherlands, and the European Commission.

Carolien holds an MSc in Integrated Resource Management from The University of Edinburgh, UK, and a BSc from University College Roosevelt, the Netherlands. She grew up in the Netherlands, but has since enjoyed living in Hong Kong, Scotland, France, and California.
