Things You Need To Know If You’re A Business In Downtown Palo Alto

Are you a business downtown?
If so, here’s three things you need to know:


1. Business Registry

This spring, the City’s new Business Registration requirement kicked in. All businesses located in fixed places of business (e.g. commercial buildings) in Palo Alto are required to register online at https://registermybusiness.cityofpaloalto.org and pay an annual fee of $50. Starting September 1, 2015, late fees and penalties accrue, so make sure you’re registered. 2. Residential Parking Permits

On September 15, 2015, the City’s new Residential Parking Program takes effect throughout the greater downtown area. Businesses that are registered with the City (see #1) can purchase permits to park within the district boundaries. More information is available at www.cityofpaloalto.org/parking

3. Business Improvement District

If your business is located within the boundaries of the Business Improvement District, it is subject to a mandatory special assessment, which partially funds the activities of the Palo Alto Downtown Business & Professional Association. You should receive an invoice from Muni Services LLC, which administers the assessment on behalf of the City. More information is available at www.cityofpaloalto.org/bida
