Applicants who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States may be eligible for a waiver of the $125 application fee only if they can obtain a GRE Fee Reduction Certificate for the current academic year.
There are no other exceptions for offering application fee waivers. Information on the GRE Fee Reduction Program can be obtained from the Educational Testing Service, ETS.
After your GRE Fee Reduction eligibility has been established by your Financial Aid Office and you are issued the GRE Fee Reduction Certificate, send a scanned copy of the completed certificate with a cover letter that includes your full legal name, email address, and program to the PhD Program with the subject “Fee Waiver Request.” To be valid, the GRE Fee Reduction Certificate must be imprinted with an official school stamp or seal and signed by the appropriate school official.
If your application fee waiver is approved, you will be given a code to enter in the payment section of the online application. The application fee is not waived for international students.
Important: Requests for fee waivers must be received at least 15 business days prior to the application deadline. If you apply for a fee waiver, please do not pay the application fee until you find out if your request for a waiver is granted or not. If we deny your request for a waiver, we will instruct you to pay the fee.
