This was shot somewhere in the world.... As far as the exact location, it must remain top secret, sorry but I cant/wont say.
Project was shot on a Canon 5D Mark II. With one lens, the L series 16-35mm. 2.8/F
All of the video is straight from the camera without any color correction, or any kind of alterations. We shot this at around 4 o clock... I wanted it to have a "warmer" look to it, so I manually adjusted the color balance to 10,000 in camera. I shot everything at f/2.8, and the ISO was set at 100. The shutter was adjusted accordingly.
I also had a B & W polarize filter for all the shots that weren't filmed in the water.
As far as making the shots out of the water so steady, I used a glidecam 4000 HD for all the smooth shots. You can check out the exact model on there official website below where you can also buy them.
http://www.glidecam.com/
For the shots where the camera was in the water, I used a SPL Underwater housing specifically made for the Canon 5D Mark II.
You can get them here at there website.

Film made by Devin Graham.
The idea of people jumping off the rock at Waimea in their Halloween outfits was Brandon Olmstead's idea. His website is here below.
http://brandonolmstead.com
Mark Holladay was the water cinematographer for the shoot. He did all the shots when the camera is in the water. He's an awesome professional still photographer on the island of Oahu who specializes in wedding and underwater photography of people. You can contact him here on his website.
http://www.holladayphoto.com
We had two GoPro HD cameras as well, both shooting at 60fps, my friends James Choi and Andy Pierce ran those cameras.
You can buy a GoPro at this website. Great HD cameras that can go anywhere.
http://www.goprocamera.com/
Mark Holladay ran his Canon 5D Mark II in the water, with an SPL water housing.
And then I ran my camera at the top of the jump, a Canon 5D Mark II as well, with a Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 L Series lens.
We filmed this all for a couple hours the morning before Halloween.

http://www.vooray.com Check below for all the details on this vid :)
My friends company donated all the clothes that were worn in this video :) There website is right above! And they are clothes that I actually like, otherwise I wouldn't have used them :) And I've actually bought several things from them in the past before they even contacted me in the first place! Check out there website here :)

The original idea for this came from my friend Clark Cahoon who had found this super muddy spot, so we arranged with all of our friends to have a big mud fight there :)
I had several other friends help film this, all a Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 7D, and 1 Canon T3i.
Here is the list of my friends that helped film as well.
Jace Leroy
Nathan Smith
Shane Harder
Some of the clips were filmed in slow motion at 60fps.
It was all shot on the North Shore of Hawaii at the end of the road on the west side.

Film made by Devin Graham.
This entire film was filmed on the island of Kauai over a 9 day period. The first 3 days were spent hiking the Napali coast, a 11 mile hike along the coast. We did this for 3 days. After this we spent 2 more days exploring the island. I did this with 8 other friends. After the 5 days were up with them, they all flew back to Oahu where everyone was living, and I stayed on the island on my own for 4 more days.
I had a rental truck, that's how I got around. I didn't want to spend money on hotels though, so I slept in the truck, in a Walmart parking lot for the other 4 nights. A lot of cars get broken in on the island of Kauai, according to rumors, so that's why I would camp in the parking lots, so I was a lot more exposed if someone tried to break in where I was sleeping :) That way i wouldn't get robbed, raped, or murdered, ha.
At night when I got done filming, I would go into the only Walmart on the island, where they also have a McDonald's, and I would bum off there wi-fi with my ipod touch, and plot my path for the next day, then I would head out before the break of dawn every morning, and I would get back after sunset to do it all over again.
On a technical side, this was all all shot on the Canon 5D Mark II. Most of the shots were done with the Canon 16-35mm 2.8 L Series lens.
The smooth shots were done with a Glidecam HD-4000. You can check out the exact model on their official website here where you can also buy them. I've been shooting with there glidecams for the last 5 years, and love them. They do take a little bit of a learning curve, but once you get past that, it's all smooth!
http://www.glidecam.com/
Also, here's a link to some of the photography I did as well while I was filming. I did this just on the side, just because I was already at the location, but my main focus was capturing it on video. Second was photographing it.

The music for this video was composed by my friend Elton Luz.

He also did the music for my fire knife dance video in which you can see right below.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uxUNyQ_c1E
As far as the making of this video goes...
We shot this over a couple different afternoons. The first afternoon I went out with a bunch of friends, and filmed them jumping off of the tower.
On the second day we shot the "story" part of the video, that's when we shot the guy in the " Ghillie suit", "sneaking in", and the guy then jumping off of the tower doing the "gainer(frontward backflip)".
All of the video was shot on a Canon 5D Mark II except for the slow motion shots where I had two other friends come and help me film those. Those two friends were...
-Jase LeRoy
-Nate Smith
For the slowmotion shots, they were shot on a Canon 7D and a Canon T2i.
We used a Canon 16-35mm F/2.8 L series lens for all the wide handheld shots.
And we used a Canon 70-200mm F/2.8 L series lens for all of the tight shots.
As far as making the camera look like it was "flying", I used a glidecam 4000 HD for all those shots. You can check out the exact model on there official website below where you can also buy them, and I don't get paid to say that :)
http://www.glidecam.com/
The motion graphics at the beginning of the movie were made by my friend Jared Mounch who I also went to film school with. He currently works with the film company LENZ-works.
Be sure to check out there facebook fan page in this link. http://www.facebook.com/LENZworks
The sneaking in that was done in the video, was actually filmed somewhere else, but we wanted to make it seem like it was a military operation at first, so that was the thought process in that.

On a technical note:
The entire video was shot on a Canon 5D Mark II at 24fps.
It was shot with the Canon 16-35mm F/2.8 L series lens.
A great deal of time was put into the "sound design". There are actually no real sounds from the video camera that made it into the video. I went out and recorded my own sound effects, and I used my sound library as well. I spent well over 12 hours on recreating every sound that is heard in the video, there was even some parts where I had around 20 tracks of audio laid out over one single firework... so yeah... a lot of time was put into it, ha.
The entire video was shot on the island of Oahu in Hawaii, in Laie and Hauula.
The idea for this video originally came when I was filming another youtube video with my friend for my channel, the one titled "soccer girl". It was a video about a girl playing soccer... While editing the video, and watching the ball fly up in the sky, the random idea came into my head that it would be sweet if the ball exploded... and hence, that's where this video came from :) I then contacted my friend from Utah, Aaron Sorensen, asking if he could do the visual effects, and as you can tell, he did them :)
Check out my blog on the behind the scenes of the sound design as well.

EPIC Tarp Surfing

Download this song for FREE at http://www.Download.WentworthandMordemere.com
It was made by my friends "Wentworth & Mordemere ", specifically for this video, the song is called "Pacific Coast Highway"
The long boards we used for this video were supplied from my friends longboarding company, Jaseboards. Make sure to "like" them on facebook if you love longboarding :)
https://www.facebook.com/jaseboards
Also, the sunglasses used are from my friends company they just started, called Proof glasses. They are made out of all wood, the real deal!! :)
You can check them out here. http://www.iwantproof.com
Also, just to make sure it's clear, I was paid in NO WAY by these companies. There product fit my video perfectly, and I believe in the products that they are selling, even though they are all start up companies, without a doubt I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a longboard, or sexy rad glasses, and just for the record, I wasn't paid to say that either :)
Going back to my friends band that did the music for this video, Ross Lara aka Wentworth produced the track, check him out below :)
http://www.rosslara.com
As far as the technical details go, I have them right below....
FACTS ON MAKING THE VIDEO
1. It took 6 different half days of filming tarp surfing with riders.
2. It took 1 evening/sunset to film the intro.
3. It took 3 different FULL days of filming surfers and waves, 1 of those was with me in the water filming.
4. It took 120 hours easy of endless nights of editing. (most of which I did during Christmas break).
5. It took two more separate days (not full days), to film people just having fun, dancing, etc. This footage was used to make the video more fast pace with variety.
The entire video was shot on the Canon 5D Mark II, except for one slow motion shot that my friend shot with a Canon T2i.
Everything else was shot at 24fps.
As far as the "exact" picture styles that I use on my Canon 5D, or any dslr for that matter, i used these settings.
Sharpness: 0 | Contrast: -1 | Saturation: 1 | Color Tone: 1
While filming the long boarders, I was never actually on a skateboard at all. Those shots were all done with me running full speed with them. To get those shots I used a glidecam HD-4000. I flipped the glidecam upside down so I could have the camera super low to the ground for a lot of the shots. Here's a link to where I bought my glidecam, http://www.glidecam.com/
For all the tarp surfing shots, I used a Canon 16-35mm F/2.8 L series lens. With a B&W polorizer lens in front during the top time shots.
For the surfing shots in the water, I shot those with the same camera and an undewater housing specifically made for the Canon 5D Mark II, I bought that in this link below.
www.splwaterhousings.com/
For the real surf footage shot from the beach, I used two different lenses for that. A Canon 70-200mm F/2.8 L series lens with a Canon 2X III Extender. And I used a Canon 600mm F/4 lens for the real close up shots of the surfers.
For more information on the making of this video, and what it took, you can check out that in my blog below.

The main surfer in the video is Andy Pierce. Evan Fa is one of the body boarders in the video as well.
On a technical note:
The entire video was shot on a Canon 7D, all in 720P, at 60fps (frames per second).
I used a couple different Canon lenses to shoot this, they were...
Canon 70-200 F/2.8
Canon 100-400 F/4/5.6
Canon 2X III Extender (this makes the lens when it is at 400mm, become 800 mm's. It does loose some quality, but it's not very noticeable.)
The entire video was shot all on the North Shore, at Pipeline, and Waimea for the big waves.
To get the "super slow motion", after I filmed at 60fps, I through it into the program "After Effects". I used an effect that comes with the program called "Time Warp". This allowed me to make the 60fps, to 1000fps. The way this works is the computer processes/adds frames in between the frames that are already in existence. It took several days for the computer to process the clips into the super slow motion that appears as well, so it does take a lot out of the computer, as far as processing goes.
Another similar program that does something similar to this slow motion effect, is a program called "Twixtor". It's another great program that is very similar, however you have to buy it as a separate plugin, and it is a little expensive, but if you do a lot of slow motion, it's totally worth it :)

The fire knife dancers are all professionals and some of the best in the world. They all work at the Polynesian Cultural Center which is the number one tourist attraction in Hawaii.
It's like Disneyland, but Hawaii style, where guests learn and experience the full Polynesian culture. If you want more info on this place where you can see more fire knife dancers and other amazing things, check out the link below (p.s. no one is paying me to say this :))

I have below the three fire knife dancers I worked with, in the order that they appear in the video. They were all awesome to work with and I now consider all of them great friends.
Malo Matau
Maika Tuala
Rockett Tenney
My friend James Choi was the one who had a great help in making this all happen as well. He was the original contact for the fire knife dancers, and he got them all together and the fire knifes that we needed.
Also my friend Nathan Smith helped setting up, and filming the other camera that was on the tripod, as well as James.
As far as the technical details of this video go.....
It was shot on two different cameras.
70% was on shot on a Canon 7D at 60fps at 720p, and then Conformed to 24p.
30% was shot on a Canon 5D Mark II.
Two lenses were used, the Canon 16-35mm F/2.8 and Canon 70-200mm F/2.8.
As far as Camera settings go, it was all shot at a 30 shutter, at a F/2.8. The ISO for most of the shots was 1600.
There was absolutely no color correction of any of the images, or any filters of any kind applied to the footage in the video, everything is straight from camera.raw.
To get the smooth "flying shots", I filmed those with a Glidecam 4000 HD. Here's a link to where you can buy them if your interested or want to learn more.

https://www.facebook.com/devinsupertrampyoutube
http://twitter.com/devinsupertramp
My friend Carolyn was the soccer play in the film. She's also the head soccer coach at BYU Hawaii.
We did all the filming on the island of Oahu, in Hawaii.
On a technical side, it was all shot on the Canon 5D Mark II, and for two special shots we did those with the GoPro HD.
I wanted to try and give people the "perspective" of the soccer ball, so what we did was we duck taped a GoPro HD camera to the soccer ball. I then hid behind a tree so I wasn't in the shot, and then Carolyn, the soccer girl in the video kicked the ball up as high as she could, that's how we got that shot.
As far as lenses go, the only lens I used was a Canon 16-35mm 2.8 L Series lens.
For the underwater shots with the ocean, I used a SPL housing specifically made for a Canon 5D Mark II.
I usually film all my movies at 24fps, however with this one, I wanted to try something new/experiment with. So I filmed all the shots with Carolyn at 30fps. I then conformed them with cinematools to 24fps. By doing this it slowed down the clips just a little bit, so they are barely played in slowmotion. It gives it a slight "dream effect" because of this.
With the GoPro camera, I filmed those two shots at 60fps, conformed to 24fps. After that, I then put it into a program called "Timewarp". It comes with After Effects, I then slowed the first GoPro clip down to 120fps.
The shots were the camera looks like it's "flying" were all done with a Glidecam HD-4000. You can check out the exact model on their official website here where you can also buy them. I've been shooting with there glidecams for the last 5 years, and love them. They do take a little bit of a learning curve, but once you get past that, it's all smooth!

Going back to the location where we filmed this, it is actually my favorite place in all of Oahu Hawaii. Without question the most scenic. It's also the main location in Oahu where Hollywood movies are filmed. Such movies as Jurassic Park, 50 First Dates, Godzilla, Wind talkers, Pearl Harbor Mighty Joe Young and even a great deal of the TV show LOST was filmed here.
It' also a huge tourist attraction where, as you can see, you can horseback ride, sail boat, 4 wheel, movie bus tours, jungle expedition, boat cruise, dinner, the list goes on :) It really is honestly the most photogenic place in all of Oahu. And by the way, I'm not paid to say that :) I actually did this video for free, there was no money involved. And I did it just because I love the location.
The staff at Kualoa ranch were super awesome/helpful to work with when filming this, super accommodating, and they helped with what we needed to get the shots we wanted. I would for sure reccomend this place to ANY PHOTOGRAPHER, or anyone who wants an escape from the everyday world! I really think this place is one of Hawaii's best kept secrets. It also has a super rich history, which you can also find out more about that on there website as well.
http://www.kualoa.com/
Super thanks to my friends who came with me to help film this video, Nate Smith, Clark Cahoon, and Jace LeRoy. And Spencer Turley who got me into contact with Kualoa originally.
On a technical level:
It was all filmed on a Canon 5D Mark II.
All at 24 fps, with two different Canon Lenses.
Canon 16-35mm F/2.8 L series lens
Canon 70-200mm F/2.8 L series lens
It took 5 days of filming to make this video happen. Filming 4 days of landscape stuff, just at sunrise and sunset. And then one FULL day of filming all the other people in it.
I organized it all for the day we shot all the people, and I got 65 of my friends/people in the community to come and help be a part of the video, it was a blast, but we were all dead tired afterwards.
As far as making the camera look like it was "flying", I used a glidecam 4000 HD for all those shots. You can check out the exact model on there official website below where you can also buy them, and I don't get paid to say that :)

For the filming of this youtube video. I flew to the island of Molokai, it's a Hawaiian island next to Oahu. The canoe race itself is across a huge ocean channel, and it took around 5 hours for these athletes to canoe from one island to the next.
I was blown away by the fact that they didn't stop at all, in the least bit. For each canoe racer, a motor boat had to follow next to them just to make sure they didn't get lost in the ocean, and someone from the motor boat would have to jump in the ocean and throw the canoe racers a water bottle as they got thirsty, since they had no time to stop.
The race was the World Champion solo canoe race, so people from all over the world came to be a part of it.
It was an awesome experience to experience it all.
As far as the technical details go:
It was all filmed on a Canon 5D Mark II.
Shot with a Canon 16-35mm F/2.8 L series Lens
And a Canon 70-200mm F/2.8 L series Lens

As far as the technical details go on the making of this video, I have them right below....
The entire film was shot on a Canon 5D Mark II.
The only lens used was a Canon 70-200 F/2.8 L series lens. I used that, an an extender, which double magnifies the 70-200, and makes it go up to 400mm for the super close shots. The magnifier I used was a Canon Extender EF 2x III.
I shot the entire film at 24fps. I filmed it over the coarse of one full day, and one half day, back to back. I filmed it on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, all on the North Shore, at Sharks Cove the first day, and Waimea the second day. I filmed the footage January 21'st and 22nd. It was some of the biggest waves to hit Hawaii that year.
With the Canon 5D Mark II, since it does pictures as well, I've uploaded some of those I took while there. My primary focus was to film waves, and I took these just because I was already set up, check the link below for that.

New videos EVERY week on my main youtube channel!

I made this video in response of 1000 of emails I get from people asking me to tell my story of what I do. This is only the first of many videos I will do covering my story of how I got where I am, why I do it, and what drives me. My goal with any of these videos is to inspire and remind people that if you love something do it, pursue your dreams, don't wait until it's all over, no regrets, seize the day.
Music in this video was done by my friend Stephen Anderson. It's from music he composed specifically for my Tahiti and Washington videos which I'll post links to down below.
