Actives are undergraduate students committed to celebrating and demonstrating women’s leadership. They further the mission of Cap and Gown by brainstorming, planning, organizing, and running events that build community for women leaders and allies on the Stanford campus. As such, actives are the crux of Cap and Gown.
Undergraduates from all years of study are invited to become actives after attending a fall orientation event. All actives have the opportunity to apply for the Cap and Gown Leader Award, which honors demonstrated leadership, academic achievement, and commitment and contribution to Stanford and the community at large.
Upon graduation, actives become alumni members, organizing events with the actives, as well as serving as mentors.
