STANFORD, Calif. – Anne Walker has been named the WGCA National Coach of the Year, as announced Friday.
Walker, in only her third season as Stanford’s Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women’s Golf, coached her team earlier this week to its first NCAA title. The team finished off the championship with a narrow victory over Baylor in the NCAA’s first-ever match play finish for women’s golf.
In the match play process, Stanford also knocked off top-seeded USC and Pac-12 Conference foe Arizona.
The award is determined by vote from the Division I Awards Committee upon review of the 10 highest ranked coaches in each region and their respective records for the full year. The top three per region, based on the vote, are considered by the committee for the Golf Pride Grips WGCA National Coach of the Year.
