After 390 Minor League games -- including 223 at Triple-A -- Stephen Piscotty's call has finally come.
The Cardinals' top prospect is expected to be promoted prior to the team's Tuesday night game against the White Sox, according to Rob Rains of StL Sports Page.
The Stanford University product was the 36th overall pick in the 2012 Draft and was in Double-A a year later, hitting .299 with six homers and an .810 OPS in 49 games. He spent all of 2014 with Triple-A Memphis, batting .288 with nine homers and a .761 OPS in 136 games.
The right fielder returned to the Redbirds this season and has improved his numbers nearly across the board. In 87 games, he's batting .272 with 11 homers and an .841 OPS. He's striking out more often, but also walking significantly more while improving his slugging percentage from .406 to .475.
A third baseman in college, Piscotty converted to the outfield after being drafted and is now considered one of the best defensive right fielders in the Minors. His arm, which earned a 60 grade from MLB.com's Prospect Pipeline team, is his best asset defensively. His manager with Class A Advanced Palm Beach once told MiLB.com, "It's not quite a [Raul] Mondesi-type arm, but it's not very far from it."
