CORVALLIS, Ore. - Four Stanford gymnasts combined for seven top-three finishes but a late rally on floor by Oregon State gave the Beavers a 196.325-196.250 victory Monday night.
The No. 16 Cardinal (9-6, 3-4 Pac-12) led for nearly the entire meet but was passed on No. 20 Oregon State's (8-3, 4-2 Pac-12) second-to-last routine of the night. The Beavers rallied for four consecutive scores of 9.875 before McKenna Singley capped the meet with a 9.900 to secure the win for Oregon State.
Elizabeth Price won or tied for the individual event victory in four-of-five events. She won the all-around for the sixth time this season (39.550) and won vault outright with a 9.900. Price tied for individual event wins on bars (9.950) and beam (9.850).
Price has scored 9.825 or higher in 28-of-31 performances this season and 9.900 or higher in 36-of-56 performances during her collegiate career. She has registered 24 individual event victories in 37 possible events this season.
Highlights from Stanford's meet at Oregon State.
Stanford outscored Oregon State on vault (48.975-48.725) and beam (49.100-48.950). The Cardinal had three gymnasts tie for the individual even win on beam, including Price, Nicolette McNair and Rachel Daum. The trio tied a pair of Beavers’ gymnasts with scores of 9.850.
Along with tying for the individual win on beam, McNair added a second-place finish on vault with a 9.875. She has scored 9.800 or higher in 23-of-24 routines this season and has hit 95-of-101 routines (94 percent) on vault, bars and beam in her career.
Ivana Hong continued to excel on bars and posted a 9.850 to tie for third place. She has scored 9.800 or higher in seven-of-eight meets this season.
Stanford started strong on bars with five-of-six gymnasts scoring 9.750 or higher. Price paced the group with a 9.950. The Cardinal took an early 49.150-48.725 advantage.
The Cardinal continued its momentum on vault and was led by Price (9.900) and Nicolette McNair (9.875). Stanford took a 98.125-97.725 lead into the halfway point of the meet.
The Cardinal posted its third-highest score on floor of the season (49.025) in the third rotation to take a 147.150-146.925 lead into the final rotation.
Four gymnasts scored 9.825 or better on beam but Stanford could not find the big score needed to hold off a surging Oregon State, which posted five scores of 9.875 or higher on floor to steal the victory.
Stanford concludes its regular season Sunday at 12 p.m. (PT) when it travels to Los Angeles for a tri-meet against UCLA and Georgia.
