Brian researches the cultural memory of violence between the U.S. and the Middle East, especially how historical analogies and metaphors have been used to frame contemporary violence between these regions. He holds previous masters degrees in library and media studies (Montana State University), medieval literature (Oxford), and cultural anthropology (Oxford). His primary research methods and disciplinary interests include contemporary anthropology, media and communications, and literary analysis.
