In the first eleven minutes of this film Herbert Hoover talks about the Hoover Library on War, Revolution, and Peace with Ray Henle, NBC news commentator. Hoover explains the conception and purpose of the library and does a show-and-tell for selected items from the collection, among which is the first issue of Pravda. Hoover explains that the three-month gap in the library’s holdings of that newspaper was because the US postmaster general seized issues mailed to the library on the grounds that they were subversive. Hoover managed to resolve the delivery problem but never recovered the seized items.

A Conversation with Herbert Hoover was filmed in 1960. It is among the holdings of the Manuscripts Division and University Archives at Stanford University and was digitized as part of the California Audiovisual Preservation Project.
