Founding Donors
The Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies (known as Stanford Seed) was founded in November 2011, with an extraordinary gift from Stanford alumnus Robert King (MBA 1960) and his wife Dorothy King.
The Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies—known as Stanford Seed—is a Stanford Graduate School of Business-led initiative intent on ending the cycle of poverty in developing economies.
At Stanford, we believe that some of the most pressing problems we face today, including poverty, can be addressed through leadership and innovation in the private sector.
Building on Stanford's decades-long history of educating innovators in Silicon Valley, Stanford Seed is now bringing this innovative mindset and practical business training to entrepreneurs in Africa—and soon to additional geographies around the world.
Our Mission
To enable business leaders in developing economies to lead their regions out of poverty.
