Use SIG’s Internship Listings
SIG has compiled a listing of internship placements that would qualify for a SIG Stipend. Many of the internships listed have either previously held Stipend recipients or have directly expressed interest in having a Stanford intern this summer.
Use Other Databases
Online databases
- Fellowships, Internships and Services Programs (FISP) Database - The Haas Center’s database of public service opportunities
- USAJobs – The federal government’s official jobs site
- MakingTheDifference – Partnership for Public Service’s site for finding federal government jobs (www.makingthedifference.org)
- The Partnership for Public Service (PPS) - PPS offers paid fellowships in Washington, D.C., although these paid opportunities are not eligible for a SIG Stipend
- CalOPS – Opportunities in California state government
- NextGen Silicon Valley – Summer internships in local government and management
BEAM Stanford Career Development Center has a variety of internship databases and councilors to talk to. You can visit the BEAM website here for more information. Handshake also regularly lists unpaid internships.
For general advice finding a public service internship, talk to Paula Salazar at the Bing Information and Resource Center (BIRC) on the first floor of the Haas Center. You may also use the BIRC computer to search the Fellowships, Internships, and Service Programs (FISP) database.
