SHC Patient, Jul 2015
Dr. Kessler was too busy on the day of my appointment to give me adequate information about my condition. I was being seen following an abnormal ultrasound, and I requested that the scheduler note this abnormality and the date it was found so Dr. Kessler would know why I was seeing him, as this was a different issue than he had evaluated me for in the past. The scheduler repeated back to me the note she had entered, but when I saw Dr. Kessler, he thought I was seeing him regarding a kidney stone, which is the issue he had treated me for in the past, and was completely irrelevant to this visit. As a result, he had not reviewed the ultrasound prior to my visit, did not apologize for this, and spent no time explaining the abnormality and its effect on my health. He did not take the time to consider my other medical history, which my other Stanford physicians have told me is relevant to this issue. Dr. Kessler suggested further testing, but I am unable to have the testing due to other existing health conditions. He did not explain the risks of foregoing testing and did not suggest alternatives.

Too much time was spent entering data than discussing issues. This is a comment that apply to most providers. Providers should discuss first in detail what the objectives of the visit and address them first.
