In 2013, residents of southeast Chicago reported dust blowing through their neighborhood from large piles of petroleum coke (aka "pet coke") at storage facilities owned by KCBX Terminals, Inc. and Beemsterboer Slag Corp. Pet coke is a product of oil refining; it’s a solid black carbon material resembling coal.
