Public Transit
If you are traveling from San Francisco or San Jose, Caltrain is a good option. A one-way trip from San Francisco takes approximately one hour; a one-way trip from San Jose takes approximately 40 minutes. Caltrain also connects with stations and shuttles serving the San Francisco and San Jose International Airports.
A set of basic directions to Stanford University for travelers using public transportation is available on the Stanford Bay Area Transit website.

Reserving a time slot is mandatory to bring a tour group to Stanford. All campus tours and visits that are not organized by Stanford must reserve a tour access time slot. Visit Stanford University Parking & Transportation Services to obtain a permit. Alternatively, if you are a group visiting from an organization other than a tour group, your vehicle may drop you off in front of the museum and park in bus parking on Oak Road between Stock Farm and Welch Roads.
