Statement of Need
Continuous advances in clinical science require pediatric and family primary care practitioners to obtain comprehensive, up-to-date information on a wide variety of clinical issues that may be encountered in daily practice in the care of newborns, children and adolescents. Practical Pediatrics – North Bay 2016 is based on identified clinical challenges of physician learners combined with recommendations from Stanford Children’s Health expert faculty. The course will focus on clinical management strategies of conditions in pediatric gastroenterology, urology, cardiology, neurology, ophthalmology, pulmonology and psychiatry. Preparing for a pediatric office emergency will also be covered.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for pediatricians, family physicians, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and interested allied health professionals who provide care for children and adolescents.
Learning Objectives
- Utilize clinical guidelines in the treatment of bronchiolitis and pertussis
- Based on current best practices, assess the adolescent with depression and treat or refer appropriately
- Apply the latest advances and best practices in the evaluation, treatment and referral of a child with abdominal pain, cardiac murmur, headache or eye conditions
- Differentiate between worrisome and benign urologic conditions in the child
- Develop a plan for responding to a clinical emergency in the office.
