Breakthrough Discovery by the Pasca Lab!

The Pasca lab and collaborators have figured out how to create spheres of neuronal cells resembling the human cerebral cortex starting from skins cells. This approach makes functional human brain tissue available for the first time to study neuropsychiatric diseases in a dish.  Read more about this exciting discovery or read the full Nature Methods paper.

Recent Publications

Stanford has driven considerable growth in sleep research and treatment.  The many research labs that comprise the Stanford Center for Sleep Sciences and Medicine study all aspects of sleep ranging from genetic studies to informatics. Read more about some of our findings that have been recently published.

Message from the Director
