Mayor's Gang Prevention Task Force
Since it was established in 1991 by former Mayor Susan Hammer, the MGPTF has been comprised of a broad coalition of: youth; private residents; city, county and state government; schools; parents; and local law enforcement. The Task Force brings together each of these groups’ expertise into a coordinated, interagency effort to curb gang-related activity.

Mobilehome Advisory Commission
The function of this five-member commission is to make recommendations to the City Council regarding rules, regulations, amendments, and changes which may be deemed necessary to insure the successful operation and administration of the Mobile Home Rent Ordinance.

Neighborhoods Commission
The Neighborhoods Commission shall integrate the voice of neighborhoods into the City’s decision-making processes; study issues, courses of action, policies, and programs that affect neighborhood quality of life; make recommendations to council and redevelopment agency; and empower neighborhoods.

Parks & Recreation Commission
The Parks and Recreation Commission advises the City Council on the City's system of parks, playgrounds, recreation centers and facilities, and recreation programs, including community sports, plays, celebrations and other recreation activities.

Parks Bond Citizen Oversight Committee: The responsibility of the Committee is to oversee that the following language on the Parks Bond ballot measure is carried out.

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission has the responsibility of making recommendations to the City Council on: Adoption or amendment of the General Plan and specific and redevelopment plans for the future physical development of the City; Adoption or amendment of land use and redevelopment regulations, including zoning and subdivision; Adoption of the Capital Improvement Program; and Other duties as provided by the City Council. The Planning Commission also: acts as an appellate body on certain Planning Director decisions and certifies Environmental Impact Reports.

Planning Director's Hearing
The Director of Planning, Building and Code Enforcement ("Director") is the initial decision-making body for most Development Permits and various minor and administrative types of permits. The Director serves as the Secretary to both the Planning Commission and Historic Landmarks Commission.

Police & Fire Department Retirement Plan
The Police & Fire Department Retirement Plan (“Plan”) is a defined benefit retirement plan serving the police and fire employees and retirees of the City of San José. Operating under the San José Municipal Code Section 2.08.1200, the Plan is managed and administered by its Board of Administration (“Board”).

Project Diversity Screening Committee
As established by Council Action, the Committee reviews all applications submitted to the Office of the City Clerk, interviews applicants and makes recommendations to Council as it relates to appointments to Boards and Commissions.
