Water Service in San José
There are three water retailers in San José, each with their own service areas:
- San Jose Municipal Water System, owned and operated by the City of San José
- San Jose Water Company, privately owned and regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission
- Great Oaks Water Company, privately owned and regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission

Rain Barrel Rebates
Rain water collected in rain barrels can be used to irrigate landscape and conserve water. A $50.00 rebate is available to customers of the City of San José’s Municipal Water Service to purchase rain barrels. Learn more and

Lawn Busters Pilot Program
Between August and November 2015,
Lawn Busters Pilot Program provided qualified homeowners with a landscape design, materials, and labor to complete 24 lawn conversions.

Free Water Fixtures
San José Municipal Water System has free water fixtures for its San José customers, including shower heads and kitchen and bathroom faucet aerators. Customers can pick them up in person between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at the office at 3025 Tuers Rd. The fixtures are also available at Santa Clara Valley Water District headquarters located at 5750 Almaden Expressway. Customers are limited to two shower heads, one kitchen faucet aerator, and two bathroom faucet aerators. |
