Baccalaureate at Stanford is a celebratory gathering for graduating seniors, graduate students, and professional students, as well as their families and friends. It is a time to acknowledge the spiritual contribution to the education of the whole person, and it is organized under the auspices of the Office for Religious Life.

Be the only student speaker during Commencement Weekend at Stanford’s Baccalaureate ceremony on Saturday, June 11 in the Main Quadrangle!

Since 2005, the Office for Religious Life has hosted a student speaker contest, where a graduating senior offers his/her reflections into their own spiritual journey during their time at Stanford, including hopes and dreams for the future for the entire class.

  • Speech cannot exceed 600 words
  • Entries accepted now through Wednesday, April 27, 11:59 pm
  • No exceptions to the deadline
  • Submit your speech in Word format at
  • Finalists wil be contacted by Tuesday, May 3 and MUST be available for auditions on Wednesday, May 4 between 7:00 – 8:30 pm
  • $500 prize will be awarded to the winner
