On November 19, 2015 current users of Office 365 got access to OneDrive and Online Docs (online versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote). At this session, you will learn how to use OneDrive to share and collaborate (edit in real-time) with other Stanford Office 365 users.
Tableau is business intelligence software that allows anyone to easily connect to data, then visualize and create interactive, sharable dashboards.
It’s easy enough that any Excel user can learn it, but powerful enough to satisfy even the most complex analytical problems. It only takes seconds to securely share your findings with others. The result is BI software that you can trust to actually deliver answers to the people that need them.
This session will give you an understanding of the components in Tableau, with basics of how they work together and how they play into Stanford.
There will also be a demo using live University IT to give you the basics of creating visualizations and dashboards.
Stanford’s Email and Calendar service will move from Zimbra to Office 365, Microsoft’s cloud-based service, between July 13 and August 10, 2015.

Email campaigns are used to deliver marketing or a newsletter to a specific client. Though there are many email campaign programs available, this session will focus on the use of MailChimp, Stanford Mailman, and Emma.

Moving to a new technology or system is among the toughest programs to plan and execute for any organization. In 2013, the Graduate School of Education began exploring new learning management systems for GSE courses and ultimately selected and migrated to an open source version of the learning platform, Canvas.
This Tech Briefing will describe GSE’s approaches for working with Canvas software – including integrating Stanford’s PeopleSoft – as well as share about our decision-making process, pilot testing phase, communication and rollout strategies. We will address successes, lessons learned, and what’s ahead.
On December 13, 2014, University IT will implement new two-step authentication, powered by Duo.
With the current two-step authentication service, we can choose a single authentication method. With Duo, we can set up multiple devices with multiple authentication methods. Your current method (SMS, Google Authenticator, or Printed List) will continue to work at rollover.
We encourage you to come to this session to learn how to take advantage of the Duo application for your smart device to receive a “push notification” or code, how to add a backup device, and what to do if you forget your device and have no backup devices set up.
Effective September 1, 2014 BlueJeans audio/video conferencing service will be added to the Converged Communications package and available to all active faculty, staff, and students at no additional cost.
