Welcome to the Trees / Parks at the City of Berkeley, CA. We are part of the Parks Recreation & Waterfront.
The Parks Division maintains and manages Berkeley’s parks, street medians and triangles, and the municipal urban forest . This includes recreation buildings, pools, sports fields, ball courts, tot and school age children’s play area, and street and park trees. Berkeley's Municipal Urban Forestry Unit maintains existing City trees, primarily through safety pruning and the removal of trees that have died, are considered hazardous, or have other non-correctable problems. Additionally, the Forestry Unit plants new and replacement tree and administers the Coast Live Oak Tree Removal Moratorium Ordinance.
Make a Donation! - Make a donation to help your favorite City park or to honor someone special! There are five parks funds to choose from. The funds go towards the direct cost of buying and installing everything we need to keep our parks in great shape. This includes playground equipment, trees and landscaping, picnic tables, games and sports equipment for youth, educational supplies at the Nature Center, transportation for youth programs, and waste receptacles to help keep parks clean. Memorial benches are another way to honor someone special. All donations of $50 or more are tax-deductible.
