I have two areas of focus within pediatric neurology; I take care of kids who have epilepsy and seizures and I am also a neonatal neurologist, which means I specialize in taking care of children who have brain injuries around the time they are born. I love my field because I can make a difference that has a lifelong impact.
Most parents who end up seeing me — it's not something they've planned. No one expects that their baby is going to need a neonatal neurologist. I make a point to be very honest with families; even if things aren't going well or are hard to talk about, I let parents know what is going on every step of the way. I also make sure that families know that I am personally going to be there for them from the beginning all the way through their care journey, even if it's for many years. I am dedicated to sticking with families the entire way.
