James Helton, MD

  • James Gregg Helton
  • “The most important thing I can do is support families and let them know Im here for them.”

I have always been fascinated by how the heart works. Pediatric cardiology is a challenging and exciting field. Each child is unique, and we are fortunate to have sophisticated tools and tests available to help us successfully treat children.

My subspecialty is non-invasive imaging, including fetal echocardiograms. Some of the kids Ive taken care of since before they were born, and now they are teenagers. Its so rewarding to have been able to successfully care for a child from their fetal stage through adulthood.

When families discover their baby has a heart condition that requires surgery, it can be an emotionally challenging time. My job is to inform families, educate them and provide them hope for what we can do. I show support for them the whole way and let them know we will do the very best to care for their child. The most important thing I can do is support families and let them know Im here for them.
