My goal is to improve the health and quality-of-life of children with acute and chronic gastrointestinal diseases, with an emphasis on pediatric Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. I consider it a privilege to help my young patients and families navigate through gastrointestinal issues that begin in childhood with a potential for life-long impact.
I believe that the best care is preventative care that is personalized for each individual patient. I make sure to involve the patient and family's wishes at every step of care, and I try to empower and motivate each person to make their own healthy decisions.
I'm an avid reader of gastroenterology research and health policy discussions, and consider myself an advocate for personalized medicine. I also believe in harnessing new ideas like mobile technology and social media to improve health care delivery. In my other role as a clinical researcher, I think about how to leverage health policy to advance patient care, especially in patients with complex chronic gastrointestinal diseases.
