Sarah Donaldson, MD

  • “The goal isn't just today or tomorrow, it's a lifetime.”

My greatest passion is taking care of children with cancer. I treat patients as if they were a member of my own family. One of the first patients I took care of had a malignant disease that was, at that time, universally fatal. I found that unacceptable and helped that child survive; together we came upon a therapy that changed the practice of medicine worldwide.

Every time I see a new patient, I approach it like we are going to win. I always take an upbeat approach because I know that every patient has an opportunity to succeed. I let families know that I'm going to be with them every step of the way. Children need to be treated as individuals, as someone with their entire life in front of them. The goal isn't just today or tomorrow, it's a lifetime. Every time I see a child, I'm thinking about their future.
