On December 18, 2014, President Barack Obama signed an Executive Order establishing the President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing. The Task Force Members sought expertise from stakeholders and input from the public through Listening Sessions, teleconferences and written comments as they worked to identify best practices and make recommendations to the President. The Task Force submitted an initial report to the President on March 2, 2015 and released the final report on May 18, 2015. Click the button below to read the final report.
The Task Force hosted listening sessions and teleconferences to hear testimony, gain input, and discuss and deliberate recommendations. Below you will find links to each of the events and on each event page you will find related documentation (agendas, witness biographies, meeting minutes, video of the event, draft documents).
The Department of Justice through the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services provided administrative services, funds, facilities, staff, equipment, and other support services as was necessary for the Task Force to carry out its mission. The Director of the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, Ronald L. Davis, served as Executive Director of the Task Force and, as directed by the Co-Chairs, convened regular meetings of the Task Force, and supervised its work.
