Reading Groups

The Latin Reading Group

This is a student-organized initiative devoted to the study of Medieval and Humanist Latin works. The group meets six times for  one hour and focuses on one text per quarter. Participants may enroll for 1 unit under the course name DLCL 223: Renaissances (CR/NCR). For more information, please contact group coordinator Gregory Haake (ghaake@stanford.edu)

The Old Norse Reading Group

Thursdays, 2-3.15pm, Bldg. 240, Slavic Library. This is a small group which meets once a week to practise Old Norse reading comprehension through translation. We often use this as a springboard to broader discussions of culture, literature and society in medieval Iceland. All newcomers welcome - no prior knowledge required! For further information, please contact Chris Hutchinson at chutch1@stanford.edu.

The Old English Reading Group

The Old English Reading Group meets for an hour every other week throughout the year. We read in Old English and translate as we go in a friendly and informal context. Participants can enroll for credit. For more information, please contact group coordinator Elaine Treharne (treharne@stanford.edu)
