Intensive Second-Year Japanese

Goal is to further develop and enhance spoken and written Japanese in order to handle advanced concepts such as comparison and contrast of the two cultures, descriptions of incidents, and social issues. 800 kanji, 1,400 new words, and higher-level grammatical constructions. Readings include authentic materials such as newspaper articles, and essays.

Prerequisite

JAPANLNG 5/305 (or equivalent); placement exam.

Notes

  • The eight-week Intensive Second-Year Japanese course is part of the Intensive Language Study Program offered by the Stanford Language Center. It is  equivalent to one year of Second-Year Japanese (JAPANLNG 21, 22, and 23 combined).
  • Students enroll in both Section 1 and Section 2.
  • Only graduate students may register for JAPANLNG 320. All other students must register for JAPANLNG 20.
  • Stanford graduate students (with instructor approval) may choose to enroll in this course for 12 units. All other students must enroll in this course for 15 units.
