Goal is to engage in interactions with Spanish speakers in socially and culturally appropriate forms. Social and cultural influences shaping the production of oral and written texts in the Spanish- and English-speaking world.

Notes

  • The Intensive First-Year Spanish series is part of the Intensive Language Study Program offered by the Stanford Language Center. It is divided into three segments – Part A, Part B, and Part C. Part A is designed to mimic the first quarter of First-Year Spanish at an accelerated rate. Students may enroll in the entire sequence or choose from individual parts to complement coursework already completed. Enrollment in all three parts will last eight-weeks, and will be equivalent to one year of First-Year Spanish (SPANLANG 1, 2, and 3 combined).
  • This course follows a non-standard schedule. Please see the Summer Session Non-Standard Schedule Calendar for special deadlines.
  • Only graduate students may register for SPANLANG 205A. All other students must register for SPANLANG 5A.
