Concerts at CCRMA feature new and recent computer music by graduate students, faculty, and guests. Classic works and recent music from other studios and composers are also occasionally programmed. Colloquia and concerts are announced via a mailing list.

Date:Tue, 03/01/2016 - 5:00pm - 7:00pmLocation:CCRMA StageEvent Type:ConcertJohn Bischoff will present a prepared slideshow outlining his musical history and approach to electronic music, followed by a discussion of recent pieces, both solo and for computer network band. At the conclusion of his talk, he will perform a set of solo works that incorporate a custom analog circuit of his own design. As he activates the circuit, the resulting sounds are analyzed in real-time and used to inform an extended computer-synthesis response. A binding together of the analog and digital realms is the result, the unique characteristics of each medium crossbred and counterpoised in time to form a hybrid sensibility. Works include Circuit Combine, Visibility Study, and Surface Effect.

The text recited and subjected to TEDxegesis is IN SARA, MENCKEN, CHRIST AND BEETHOVEN THERE WERE MEN AND WOMEN, a prose poem self-published by John Barton Wolgamot in 1944. That text consists of 128 stanzas identical in basic lexical form but with changing content drawn from a collection of 1023 names, many culled from biographical dictionaries of the day.

We present experimental sound art, conceptual music, & iterations of expanded sonic practice. Performances feature, but are not limited to, instruments, objects, gestures, tapes, & videos.
Weston Olencki is a San Francisco-based trombonist specializing in the performance and production of new music. His work is primarily concerned with hyper-extended instrumental technique, intensive performer-composer collaboration, de-specialization of the performing body, noise, and alternative concepts of physicality within performance practice.FREEOpen to the PublicLarry Polansky

Born in Mexico City in 1958. He started his musical training in national folkloric music learning harps from Veracruz, Michoacan and Chiapas as well as different kinds of flutes from several regions.
Morales-Manzanares PhD in Composition form UC Berkeley went to the music school “Escuela Superior de Musica” where he finished his professional studies on flute, piano and composition. In 1981, he created an interdisciplinary workshop in music, painting, literature and dance, which functioned until 1984. At that time, he founded the group “Alacran del Cantaro” which he continues to direct.FREEOpen to the Public

Matt has studied and worked in many of the leading musical research centers throughout the US and for these two evenings he will present an eclectic mix of the works that have influenced and inspired him throughout his career, as well as several of his own genre bending compositions. From instrument designer to computer music researcher, from samba to oud, from network audio concerts to improvising electronic ensembles - these concerts will display the inner workings and idiosyncrasies of Matt's musical mind...

The piece examines the etiquette that encompasses communication technology. In addition to this complex web of etiquette, cmetq examines the human emotions tied to etiquette. The story is set in two time periods; the age of the invention of the telephone and the age of mobile communication and social media. The text for this piece was created using two distinct processes.Soliloquies were created to act as commentary on each of the ages and the unfolding stage work. Tweet-length texts were written and tweeted as reactions to readings about technology, etiquette, and their intersection. From the tweets, melodies were improvised and were translated with software.
