Disco the Parakeet
Shared publicly -On this Throwback Thursday, let's roll it back three years to March of 2012. I'm quoting the cat and singing "Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto."

Little Eats loves to watch Disco and today she copied Disco's farting sound even though Disco wasn't farting. Lol :-)

commented on a channel on YouTube.I can't reply to all of the comments and questions I get on YouTube [likely] due to privacy settings on that person's end. I had a suggestion and a comment that I asked my human to answer; the person suggesting/commenting might see my response, and the information might also be interesting to someone else. Love, Disco
"You should bring him to the zoo and see if he will mimic some of the animal sounds, like he does for a dog and a cat."
Not sure if he’d mimic them or not – the cat and dog sounds are ones he learned from us, as he does all of his phrases and sounds. (Many people think he learns movie and song lines from watching TV and listening to the radio. While he enjoys listening to a variety of media, LOL, he only mimics what we say to him, and it’s always in the context of play, never some official training session.)
"I like animals a lot, I like this little guy but I don't buy that it's him actually saying this."
You are not alone! Many people have suggested – or downright stated with great certainty and occasionally rudeness, LOL – that Disco is a fake, that we fake his videos. We get all kinds of reasons why he couldn’t possibly be talking like this, including “birds don’t make breathing noises like that!” and “my grandma had a bird like that and he never talked!” I think people don’t realize what great mimics budgies are by nature (but not always by nurture, which is why one should never, ever get a bird just so it will talk, because it might not), and that it’s well documented that they can develop some of the largest vocabularies in the parrot family. Disco was just in a documentary – “Pets – Wild at Heart” – in the UK, and the same documentary will appear in the US later this year on PBS; the UK-based production company which filmed him and produced this program certainly didn’t spend their time or money on a fake US-based bird!

The people who suggest it is not Disco speaking obviously never had a budgie, particularly a male budgie. The females don't talk as much (go figure). I had a male budgie who talked a lot. And when they reach a large vocabulary they come up with their own phrases, which is adorable.

Shared publicly -Well, I do know it! Oh, hey, who in the UK saw me last night on #PetsWildAtHeart on BBC One? I understand the whole program was terrific! (I have to wait until later in the year to see it in the States.) XOXO, Disco

+Disco the Parakeet that's really sweet, I wish my budgies also learn to speak so beautifully. Please, what kind of tips can you give me?

Bird to your mother!
Introduction
You've found me, that crazy talking budgie, Disco the Parakeet! From pop culture to speaking about my obvious good looks and sweet disposition, I say a number of silly phrases which are always family friendly. In May of 2013, I delighted the dubious anchors of the Today Show - as well as their viewers - proving that I am exactly like you see me in my videos! Check my 100+ videos out on YouTube, and join me on Google+, Facebook, and Twitter.
