Many children in developing countries die each year from acute respiratory infections caused by indoor air pollution from cooking with wood and dung. Stanford researchers in Bangladesh are seeking new ways to encourage the use of cleaner, safer stoves.

Aquaculture in an Era of Finite Resources
Aquaculture now accounts for 50 percent of the fish consumed globally, according to a new report by Senior Fellow Rosamond Naylor and colleagues. And while the industry is more efficient than ever, it is putting a significant strain on marine resources.

Chris Field Receives Heinz Award for Environmental Science and Leadership
Senior Fellow Chris Field has been named a 2009 Heinz Award recipient. The Heinz Family Foundation cited Field "for his leadership and innovation in carbon cycle and climate science."
