Facebook CareersMay 15, 2017
Conversation with a 10-year old kid at Facebook's Take Your Kids to Work Day.
“Kid: Do you work here?
Facebooker: Yep. Do you?
Kid: (excitedly) Not yet!”
Facebook recently held its annual Take Your Kids to Work Day at our Menlo Park, California headquarters. We were excited to host parents and their children at this event, specifically designed to share with kids of all ages what it’s like to work at Facebook. The activities showcased Facebook's values and gave kids a more hands-on connection to our mission and culture. Internet.org is a Facebook initiative to connect the world to the internet. There are 4 billion people with no internet connectivity today, and we work with mobile operators on ways to provide connectivity and affordability of the internet to all. We have seen the deep impact on the people we help connect to the internet, 1 in 10 would find a new job, get knowledge on health, agriculture etc. we are a part of a truly amazing technological effort – from enhancing mobile operators technology to provide affordable data, to providing wifi access to rural villages that needs to withstand hard climate conditions and lack of energy, to satellites and Facebook's own UAVs that can bring connectivity to the furthest places on earth. We're already available to 1.8 billion people, and it is truly amazing to work on a program that touches so many people and changes the world.

I love problem solving and my role at Facebook enables me to be a creative problem-solver on a daily basis either in my individual work or through coaching my team on how to best tackle a challenge. The learning possibilities are endless at Facebook and having a role that enables development of the global economy is very fulfilling. Whenever I see feedback from a customer thanking us for fueling their business, I feel very proud. I know that job creation at a micro level impacts the macro economy and starts a positive cycle.
