Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has set an unprecedented commitment to develop up to 2.4 GW of offshore wind by 2030, enough to power 1.2 million homes. New York State is working to responsibly develop this clean, renewable energy source.After rigorous fieldwork, analysis, and stakeholder outreach, the State submitted offshore areas for potential wind development to the federal government’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management with an aim to maximize benefits and minimize conflicts to ocean users, both people and wildlife.
