(35) Supports the Navy’s power project needs, fostering the technology development of naval aircraft, structures, propulsion, autonomy, energetic, directed energy and electric weapons.

Forecasting Hurricane Strength

Hurricane_IrmaAs Hurricane Irma approaches U.S. shores, researchers sponsored by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) are using air-dropped autonomous sensors to compile real-time ocean observations to help forecasters predict the strength of future tropical storms.

Students, STEM and Prosthetic Limbs

CONVEYONR recently sponsored a series of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) workshops recently held by the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL)—America’s largest university-affiliated research center—at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The workshops targeted students whose parents are current or former military personnel, and highlighted the science behind prosthetic limbs.
