My name is Bianca Duenas and I grew up in the small town of Lodi, California. Since graduating from Stanford, life has taken me down various paths. Following graduation, I married my best friend, Salvador Duenas, who is active duty in the United States Marine Corps. In 2008, I became a Paralegal for the United States Attorney's Office in San Diego. It was an amazing opportunity that allowed me to work on everything from Mexican Mafia cases to the Arellano-Felix cartel investigation. In 2010, my husband received orders to transfer to Hawaii, and I was accepted to the Hawaii region of Teach for America. My husband was sent last month for his 4th deployment, leaving me 9 months pregnant and having to give birth without him. We welcomed our daughter, Ayanna Gisel, on March 31st and my husband was able to watch the birth live all the way from Afghanistan.
