BEAM has has implemented a new platform, Handshake,  to help students define and achieve their career goals.  Handshake provides a modern, streamlined approach to career services that capitalizes on the best aspects of the social web. Stanford students will use the platform to connect with employers, discover opportunities and events, and schedule appointments with career counselors.

“Handshake will give students and employers an engaging user experience,” said Dr. Farouk Dey, Associate Vice Provost of Student Affairs & Dean of Career Education. “This platform is intuitive and lets students and employers connect with the ease we’ve come to expect in the social media age.”

Handshake replaces Cardinal Careers. It’s expected to increase student engagement by harnessing features from Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest. It will also reach students where they are through the Handshake app. Handshake will help Stanford students to discover opportunities, build their careers, and extend the reach of their relationships at Stanford beyond graduation day by facilitating mentorship opportunities and alumni engagement.

Stanford students and potential employers can begin connecting by logging into the new platform and creating a profile here.
