BEAM Career Fairs

Stanford hosts 20+ Career Fairs during the academic year, covering a wide variety of industries. Did you know that these Career Fairs are not just for undergraduates? Many employers who attend the fairs are also interested in hiring PhDs. Additionally, the PhD Career Fair in February brings together employers specifically looking for PhD level candidates. Even if you’re not yet looking for a fulltime opportunity, these fairs are a great way to network with employers and learn what specific skills they are seeking. Other departments  also host career fairs including the School of Engineering, School of Medicine, and School of Education.

Making the Most of Your Career Fair Experience

It is easy to feel intimidated at a career fair - that's why it's helpful to do your homework ahead of time. Here are some ways you can prepare:

  • Review the list of employers attending the fair in Handshake beforehand and prioritize your top preferences
  • Conduct research on the employers that are high on your preference list using sites such as LinkedIn and Glassdoor
  • Prepare your questions for employers based on your goals for the fair, such as career exploration or job search
  • Create your resume and bring copies with you
