- Please use the Change of Status Form to update us that you are no longer in F1 or J1 student visa status.
- Letters of Invitation for use by F-1 or J-1 students (pdf)
- Bechtel International Center does not provide letters of invitation. Information we have received from the Department of State and US Consulates abroad indicates that these letters are not considered in visa decisions, and are therefore not useful.
- Instead, students are advised to write their own invitation letters (template linked above), along with providing supporting documents.
- Evidence you should include to support your invitation letter:
- Copy of I-20 for F-1 students/copy of DS-2019 for J-1 students
- Copy of visa stamp
- Copy of passport
- Copy of Stanford transcript
- Family Invitation Letter: Proof of relationship between you and the person you are inviting
