Jane Woodward is a founder and CEO of MAP, an investment firm that forms and manages natural gas and renewable energy royalty partnerships. Ms. Woodward is also a Consulting Professor in Stanford University's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Jane has been teaching classes on energy and environment at Stanford since 1991, and currently teaches Understanding Energy every Fall and Spring quarters [CEE 107A/207A and Earth Systems 103].

Jane funds a variety of sustainable energy education initiatives, largely benefiting Stanford students.

Prior to founding MAP, Jane worked as an exploration geologist with ARCO Exploration Company and later as a petroleum-engineering consultant. She holds a BA in geology from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and holds an MS in engineering and petroleum geology and an MBA, both from Stanford University. In 1988, Jane co-founded Community Impact (now HandsOn Bay Area), a Bay Area public service volunteer organization. Jane serves on the Advisory Councils for the Precourt Institute for Energy and the Precourt Energy Efficiency Center, both at Stanford.
