1.3 About the PDRF (Proposal Development Routing Form)

1. The PDRF is a Tool and Guide

The PDRF is an electronic tool that you can access in the SeRA System. The PDRF will help you start the proposal process within Stanford. You can use it as a tool to help you understand what approvals may be necessary and it will prompt you for other information that will help you to think about what you need to complete the proposal. You can start the PDRF and return to it at any time. The PDRF is also used to collect and route all the proposal documents, approvals and waivers necessary for review and endorsement by Stanford University.

The PDRF supports the proposal process.

  • It helps you identify and gather the required information such as: the submission deadline and method, proposal documentation, compliance requirements and approvals required for the submission of a proposal
  • It is a tool to electronically route proposals to approvers established by departments in Authority Manager
  • It establishes, by electronic signatures, that the proposal has undergone administrative and academic review taking into consideration compliance issues.
  • It is the place to check the proposal status while it is routed for Stanford approvals, before it is submitted to the sponsor.

For theses reasons, PIs and department administrators are encouraged to initiate the PDRF early in the proposal development process.
