The Reassignment Program at the Department of Public Health was created to gauge the response of current PCS 2320 RN Registered Nurses with regards to reassigning to a different unit.

Registered Nurse Reassignment Form
You will need to have your resume and qualification statements ready to include as part of the application. Pending submission or your application, a confirmation email will be sent to you electronically.
Once you submit the Registered Nurse Reassignment form, your interest will be considered active for a period of one (1) year, starting from the date of reassignment interest email submission. Based on the specialties you indicate on the form, HR Operations will match your selection(s) for reassignment interest with vacancies in units, which require those specialties. HR Operations will determine the eligibility of the reassignment applicants, verifying that they have Permanent Civil Service (PCS) appointments, passed probation and are actively working as RNs. HR Operations will provide access to the Applicant’s Reassignment Application to the hiring Manager, who will vet the applicant, ensuring they meet the minimum and/or desired qualifications for the vacancies. The hiring Manager will interview reassignment applicants who meet the Minimum Qualifications (MQs). Current or pending disciplinary or documented performance issues within the prior three (3) years may be factored into the selection. Applicants will be selected for the reassignment based on top scores prior to P103s currently working in the specialty unit, then consider current eligible list of employees who have submitted a Notice of Interest. The hiring manager will select a hire based on that order.

Ambulatory Care:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License; AND
One (1) year of verifiable experience (equivalent to 2,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in an acute or urgent care, ambulatory care, or primary care clinical setting; OR
One (1) year of verifiable experience (equivalent to 2,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in any setting AND documentation of successful completion of a preceptorship program in the Ambulatory Care
Correctional Facility/Jail Health Nursing:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License; AND
Six (6) months of verifiable experience (equivalent to 1,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in a correctional, acute care, or skilled nursing setting
Critical Care:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License; AND
One (1) year of verifiable experience (equivalent to 2,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in an Adult Medical/Surgical ICU with at least six (6) beds.
Critical Care Training Program:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License; AND
One (1) year of verifiable experience (equivalent to 2,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital OR
Successful completion of a senior preceptorship in critical care nursing (minimum of 120 hours)
Emergency Care:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License; AND
Two (2) years of verifiable experience (equivalent to 4,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department
Possession of a valid Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
Emergency Care Training Program:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License; AND
One (1) year of verifiable experience (equivalent to 2,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in acute care OR
One (1) year of verifiable experience (equivalent to 2,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as an EMT-1 or Paramedic OR
Completion of a senior preceptorship in emergency or critical care nursing
Possession of a valid Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
General – Med Surg/Periop/Psych Training:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License.
Home Health Care:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License; AND
One (1) year of verifiable experience (equivalent to 2,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in a licensed home health agency; OR
Two (2) years of verifiable experience (equivalent to 4,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting
Informatics:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License; AND
One (1) year of verifiable experience (equivalent to 2000 hours) as a Registered Nurse in Nurse Informatics, which includes the use of information structures, information processes, nursing science, and information technology to support nurses, consumers, patients, the inter-professional health care team, and other stakeholders in their decision making; OR
A master’s degree in Nurse Informatics from a Nurse Informatics training program.
Long Term Care/Geriatric Nursing:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License; AND
Six (6) months verifiable nursing experience (equivalent to 1,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as an RN, and/or LVN, and/or CNA in a skilled nursing facility, acute care setting, or inpatient rehabilitation or in-patient behavioral health setting
Medical-Surgical:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License; AND
One (1) year of verifiable experience (equivalent to 2,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in acute care
Neonatal Intensive Care:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License; AND
One (1) year of verifiable experience (equivalent to 2,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in a Level 1 or Level 2 Nursery OR
Completion of a senior preceptorship in Infant Care; AND
Possession of a valid Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program; AND
Possession of a valid Certification in Basic Life Support
Neonatal Care Training Program:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including an interim permit) California Registered Nurse license; AND
Possession of a valid Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program; AND
Possession of a valid Certification in Basic Life Support
Occupational Health:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License; AND
One (1) year of verifiable experience (equivalent to 2,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in an Occupational Health Clinic OR
Two (2) years of verifiable experience (equivalent to 4,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse and/or LVN providing occupational nursing care in an ambulatory care setting
Perinatal:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License; AND
One (1) year of verifiable experience (equivalent to 2,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery and/or Postpartum; AND
Possession of a valid certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program; AND
Possession of a valid Basic Life Support – Healthcare provider certification
Perinatal Training Program:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including an interim permit) California Registered Nurse license; AND
Completion of an Introduction to Fetal Heart Monitoring course within the last two (2) years; AND
Possession of a valid Basic Life Support – Healthcare provider certification.
Perioperative Operating Room:
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License; AND
Two (2) years of verifiable experience (equivalent to 4,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in an operating room in an acute care hospital; OR
Six (6) months of verifiable experience (equivalent to 1,000 hours) as a Registered Nurse in an operating room in an acute care hospital within the last two (2) years AND a Certificate of completion of AORN Periop 101; AND
Must be able to scrub and circulate
Psychiatric Care
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License; AND
One (1) year of verifiable experience (equivalent to 2,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in a Psychiatric Unit/Clinic and/or Mental Health Center OR
Completion of a senior preceptorship in psychiatric nursing
Quality Management
Possession of a valid permanent/temporary (including interim permit) California Registered Nurse License; AND
Two (2) years of verifiable experience (equivalent to 4,000 hours) within the last three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital, clinic, home health agency or other health setting; AND
Six (6) months of verifiable experience (equivalent to 1,000 hours) within the last three (3) years in Quality Improvement and/or Risk Management in a medical/healthcare setting or home health agency utilizing the OASIS and/or coordinating or participating in home health QI activities
