Virtual Rock Physics Lab

Professor Tiziana Vanorio created a virtual rock physics lab to so that students could come to the on-campus lab more prepared. Her virtual lab consists of video animations that illustrate the internal function of the instruments, online exercises that provide practice assembling the instruments, and interactive modules that teach experimental techniques. She integrates her online materials into her pre-lab lessons so that her students can use their lab time, which is limited due to the instruments’ cost and complexity, more effectively. The materials are used in her residential course (GEOPHYS 162/259) and by visiting students and scholars.
