Teaching Advancement Grants

VPTL offers quarterly teaching advancement grants up to $2500 to Stanford faculty, lecturers, instructional teams, and graduate assistants. These grants advance teaching practice by supporting the exploration, design, and implementation of new or improved pedagogical approaches in current courses and educational programs.

How Funds Can Be Used

Enhancing teaching development for graduate students including funds for graduate students to co-plan courses (graduate stipend for a quarter prior to the class), TA Training (departments develop resources for TA training and support), graduate pedagogy courses, supporting research-focused teaching practices (assessing student learning).

Opportunities for faculty and lecturers enhance their teaching, including integration of new technologies, collaboration with partners beyond Stanford, development of new methods or approaches for a specific class (case writing, experiential learning), supporting research-focused teaching practices (assessing student learning)

Conferences and speakers including helping to bring speakers focused on teaching and learning to campus and helping graduate students, post-docs, faculty, and lecturers present at teaching and learning-focused conferences
